  • ...love McAllister's Iso Pattern.

This was caught on a Comparadun Iso that I tied with you. Got him in the high water after I left the shop tonight. Feel free to write up a creative testimonial and put it on your site about how I wanted to tie a hot pattern and you told me White Gloved Howdy's were the hot pattern and then taught me to tie it. Caught in the TMA, found holding behind a rock on the edge of the pool.

He measured at out at an even 20 on the net-notch method, photographed, and released.

    Thanks again for everything.

  • " Last year was the first time we fished the Farmington . Initially, we fished the popular holes until we stopped into McAllister’s Fly shop to replace a few lost flies.

We met Jamie who was interested in where we fished, what flies we used and what our thoughts were about the Farmington experience. Jamie showed us some new fly patterns he had tied as well as told us a few new areas to try. Jamie really put us onto the fish and saved us years of learning the river on weekends.

We have been in many New England fly shops and feel that McAllister’s exemplifies all the traits a fly shop is supposed to be: friendly, informative, great selection of local flies, knowledge of entomology, which flies to use, how to fish them, and where to fish.  McAllister’s is our first stop on all our trips to the river.

As we get to know Jamie better, we realize just how deep-rooted in the river he is. His knowledge of fishing the Farmington and surrounding rivers, combined with his enthusiasm for imparting that information always makes time spent with him a rewarding experience.

Jamie has led us on short guided trips, unselfishly imparting his vast knowledge of the area, flies and methods to use, whether fishing natives in a small stream or in a secluded run on the Farmington . To paraphrase a popular movie, Jamie only needs a few more years to think like a fish.  While most of us need polarized glasses, Jamie (without glasses) sites fish, shows you how and where to cast to successfully land them.  It speaks to his 20 plus years on the river. Fishing is second nature to him. Jamie loves fishing, talking about fishing, and helping with whatever level of river guidance you require, beginner or expert."
